Three Month Birthday! April 19th-25th

Mommy returned to work this week.  It wasn't as rough for her to leave again as it was when she finished her maternity leave, but it was still hard.  She thought I was an angel last week and was sad to have to return to work since she enjoyed me so much.

I forgot to mention...last week Mommy went into a baby store with me in the Baby Bjorn.  I think I startled another customer there because even though I was sleeping, I let out a few good laughing fits.  Apparently, my sleeping laughter sounds very high pitched.  The lady had a funny look on her face and looked up to find out where the sound came from.  When she realized it was me, comprehension dawned on her face and she smiled.  Mommy thought the whole thing was funny.  She asked me what I was dreaming about to make me laugh out loud.  Who knows, Mommy, who knows.

What else is new?  Well, on Monday night, I slept for 7 hours straight!  I went to sleep around 11pm and didn't wake up at all until 6am!!!  Both Mommy and Daddy were so surprised and happy.  But of course, on Wednesday night, I woke up every 3 hours again.  Mommy and Daddy thought I was turning the corner, but I fooled them.  I have to keep them on their toes, you know?  But they're saying to each other that they can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Whatever you want to say to make yourselves feel better, folks.  Hehe.  I don't know what the big deal is.  What's wrong with waking up every three hours?

I'm also more aware of my surroundings.  Here's a picture of me staring at a toy from my gym.  I used to just look left and right and not pay attention to the toys.

Mommy has been helping me practice bat at toys. She'd take my hand and hit the toy with it.  Well low and behold, I'm doing it on my own now.  Just the other day I couldn't even do it.  Daddy got some video of me purposely batting at a toy, but we'll only post a still shot of it here.  It doesn't look like it, but I really did hit the toy.  So exciting!  Now if only my left hand will follow suit...we could do some serious damage together.

Auntie Jun and Uncle Mark came to visit me this week on Tuesday.  Auntie Jun was explaining to Uncle Mark why babies need burp cloths.  He didn't realize that we burp up milk.  Well, I decided to demonstrate all over Mommy right when Auntie Jun finished explaining to him.  He was rather surprised and probably a bit grossed out.  Ah, just wait until they have one of their own.

The end of this week signified my three month birthday.  Auntie Soojung and Uncle Danny also came to visit me on the day of my birthday.

I thought I'd give Auntie my "how u doin?" smirk.  I'm slick that way.

Another recent (and I mean recent) development.  I found my other hand!  Mommy had just put my two hands together yesterday so that I could feel them, and today, I did it on my own!  Daddy said that I was playing with them for a while.  Little do they know, I was planning to "take over the world!"  Muhahaha!

Finally, Mommy wanted me to work on my left hand's grasping skills.  She's been trying to get me to grasp this ring, but whenever I do, my hand would just slip right off.  This time she got me to put my fingers around this ring and I held on.  I couldn't take it off for a while, so my arm was stuck here for a few minutes. As you can tell, I was concentrating so hard, I was drooling.

Anyway, it seems like this week was rather momentous in the amount of changes that I am going through.  My folks are very excited for more new developments.  I'll keep you posted!

Week 12 April 12-18th

Mommy had this week off for spring break, so she got to spend it all with me.  She was looking forward to this week ever since she went back to work.  I was very happy to spend all this time with her.  I think she's going to go into withdrawal again when she has to go back to work on Monday.

We went to visit Auntie Monnette and Baby Alex this week.  Alex is 6 weeks older than me and a couple of pounds heavier.  But I'm catching up.  He's more active than I am, but at least I'm awake in this picture, unlike the first time we met.

Hey!  Don't poke me!  Talk about invasion of space!  Just wait until I'm more aware!  Then it's game on!

Look what I can do now...well, not without help.  Mommy propped me up on my arms and I looked around for a little bit during this "tummy time" episode.  It didn't last long though.  I don't really like tummy time at all.  But I'm definitely better about keeping my head up and moving it from side to side.

Oh, did I mention that Mommy knitted this sweater?  I think I can still grow into it, but it fits pretty well so far.  Yeah, I know the light green clashes with the light blue, but we were at home and Mommy thought it was cold in the house.  I'll have to give her some fashion pointers.

One of the principals at Mommy's school gave this shirt to me.  I don't really get it though.  I'm an Advanced Beginner?

Here are some other photos of me.  As I mentioned before, I'm definitely more smiley now.  This onesie was the first thing Mommy bought when she found out she was pregnant.  She didn't know my gender yet but thought this was neutral enough.  She also guessed that with a due date of February 1st, that I'd fall into the "Aquarius" sign even if I was a bit early or a bit late.  She was right.

Here I am sporting this onesie in our living room.

Uncle Gordon came to visit.  He came by to take some pictures of me and to make another pinhole camera with Daddy.  He takes some really cool pictures with those pinhole cameras.

Check out my Kung Fu moves...though I didn't know that I know Kung Fu.  Ah whatever, I look like I know what I'm doing.

Mommy mentioned in the previous blog that I found my hands, or mainly, my right hand.  Aside from staring at it, this is my next favorite (or maybe it's my favorite) activity to do with it.

And last but not least, this is the onesie that Daddy registered for.  Mommy was soo embarrassed when she took this onesie out of the gift bag from her coworkers.

Until next time...

Week 11 April 5th-11th

Another week has gone by and I'm definitely more social now than I was before.  Mommy and Daddy are enjoying talking to me since I'm cooing right back at them.  I'm getting really loud with my cooing too.  And my smiles are coming more and more frequently.

I thought I'd relay a story about Mommy's sleep deprivation.  It happened a few weeks ago.  During one of my middle of the night diaper changes/feeding incidents, Daddy got up to help me out.  When he put me back down, Mommy asked him, "How's the baby?"  Daddy responded, "he had a poopy diaper."  Mommy then asked Daddy, "did he eat the whole thing?" to which Daddy, confused, asked "What?" Mommy then repeated her question, "did he eat the whole thing" and Daddy then said, "you're not making any sense."  Mommy then said, "ok" in a sing songy voice and dropped the matter.  Mommy told Daddy the next day when they were laughing about it, that when she was talking, she knew that the words coming out of her mouth did not match what she was thinking in her head.  She was asking whether I drank all the milk in the bottle, even though somewhere in her mind she knew that's not what Daddy was talking about.  And that she finally just said "ok" so she didn't have to try to talk and explain anything in her confused state of mind.  They both thought it was hilarious.  According to Daddy, it's one of the few times Mommy's been so confused and tired that whatever she said didn't make any sense.  I guess it's a common occurrence for parents of newborns.

I had my two month check-up this week.  I'm now 13.1 pounds, a little less than what we measured fully clothed at home.  My head continues to be in the 90th percentile, while my weight and height are around and in the 75th percentile respectively.  I got two shots that day and I wasn't happy about it at all.  But I was brave and I only cried for a little while.  Mommy was able to calm me down soon after.

Because Daddy thinks I'm getting pudgy, Mommy asked Daddy to take a picture of the rolls on my thigh.  Mom!  That's a private matter!  They figured that sooner or later, I'd outgrow the pudginess and they'd miss seeing the rolls.  As Mommy says, this is the only time where it's perfectly fine to be fat.  :)

Another thing my Mommy wanted to document were my feet.  She wanted pictures of them before they got "big and ugly" as she said.  I think they're cute myself.

I'm beginning to track really well now.  My grandparents get a kick out of talking to me from far away to see if I can see them, and then moving to another part of the room to see if I'd move my gaze over to them.  I also recently discovered my hand.  I can be found staring at my right fist right in front of my face.  I think it's a little too close though, because I frequently get cross-eyed while looking at it, even though you can't quite tell here.

I also recently found my feet while sitting up on Mommy in a new position.  Whenever my foot moved, it'd catch my eye and I'd stare at it in wonder.  And when my other foot moved, that would catch my eye and I'd stare at that one.  Who knew I had feet?  And that they'd look like monkeys!

One last thing...I've been playing with my saliva making bubbles.  All good fun.

Week 10 March 29th-April 4th

Whew!  As mentioned in the previous entry, last weekend was super busy with lots of family.  I think I went into withdrawal from all the people holding me, because now I REALLY don't want to be put down.  I think I got used to being held ALL THE TIME by my various great aunts and great uncles.  Poor Grandma...she's the one that has to deal with that during the day.  She said my grade was lowering because I am so needy.

Poor Daddy is feeling the effects of many nights of little sleep..he's sick.  Sorry Daddy!  I don't mean to wake up every three hours or so.  We're both pretty tired in this picture.  It looks like I feel asleep mid way through crawling up onto Daddy.

I'm due for my two month check-up but it'll come two weeks late.  Oh well.  Mommy is guessing I weigh at least 12 lbs.  So she decided to get on a scale by herself and then get on it again with me and subtract the difference.  It's not exactly accurate, but it says I'm 13.5 lbs!  That really surprised Mommy.  She started putting away some of the newborn onesies that I'm outgrowing and bringing in the ones to fit 3 month old babies.  Here I am in one of those outfits.  Not sure you can read it, but the tag says, "Here comes trouble!".  Mommy thought that fit me really well.

Mommy frequently looks at older pictures of me and compares them to how I look now.  She is constantly amazed at how quickly my looks change.

This is me a little over one month old.  I'm definitely a lot bigger now.  But Mommy comments most about my face.

Great Auntie Leona and Great Uncle Paul were in town again for business.  They got to play with me again.  I was pretty fussy though so they took turns to give Grandma and Mommy a break.

After being really fussy, I finally got tired out.  Apparently I tired Great Uncle Paul out too!  Can you find me?

We'll see later on this week how my check-up went.  I heard from a little bird that I'm due for two immunization shots.  I'm not happy to hear about that at all.  Maybe Mommy will give me a treat or something to make up for it.
