Five Month Birthday! June 21st-27th

I turned five months old this week!  My folks can't believe how quickly time has flown by already.  Mommy always comments to Daddy about how big and heavy I'm getting.  Uh, Mom...that's what I'm supposed to do...grow.

I'm getting really good at rolling over.  Mommy puts me down for "tummy time" and I roll over my left side right away.  I guess it's a way for me to avoid tummy practice.  Mommy has resorted to putting a stuffed doggy (my wrestling buddy) down by my left side to prevent me from rolling over.  So what have I started doing instead?  Rolling over my right side.  It's not as easy for me to do as the left side, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Here I am on the way over.

Look at me here.  I take after my Mommy.  She used to do this when she was a baby too.   Mmmm...toes are tasty.  I sure am flexible!

Daddy decided to play with my hair during one of my bath times.

Mommy thinks I look like my Uncle Jonathan here when he was younger.

Mommy bought me this new teether.  I'm going to town on it.  Yum yum yum!

I had a play date with James on Thursday.  He's the son of one of Mommy's coworkers, Auntie Cambria.  I wasn't sure about her but I let her take a picture with me.

When I got a bit more comfortable, I was willing to sit next to James.  He's six weeks older than me, like my buddy Alex, but much bigger (his parents are really tall).  When I first arrived, he was sooo excited to see me...he started squealing and smiling.  I didn't know what to do so I cried.  I'm checking him out here though.  Auntie Cambria had to hold me up, as I can't sit on my own yet.

The mommies decided to strip us down to compare rolls. I TOLD you James was big!  He weighs 22 lbs already!  Mommy says he's solid.  I don't know what that makes me then.

On Friday I had a play date with my buddy Alex again.  I'm not sure what he's doing here, but I don't think it's ok.  The mommies were laughing at us though.  I feel violated again!

Alex looks all innocent here.  Yeah right...we know what you did to me.

Finally, a shot with some overalls Grandma bought me.  Weeee!

Week 21 June 14th-20th

This week was Mommy's first full week at home for the summer.  We have both enjoyed our time together. I had to get use to a new routine, so I was not napping for Mommy at all.  I think I'd rather play with her.  When Daddy put me down for a nap, I slept for two hours!  When Mommy put me down, I only slept for a half hour.  She said I was good though...not cranky from not sleeping.

I got this booster chair from Daddy's friend, Uncle Jerry.  I fit into it ok, but I'm not quite ready to be in it just yet.  I don't yet sit up by myself so I'm a bit hunched over.

Like my new outfits?  I'm sporting these shorts.

This was one of the shirts Mommy bought me before I was born.  It says, "Made with the best ingredients".  Hehe.  That I am.

I had a playdate with Alex again.  This time I'm much more aware of him.

However, I'm not as mobile as he is so I think he had the height advantage.  I DID get him back for poking me in the cheek a while back. You can't tell here, but I cuffed him in the chin.

I want that bib!

My Great-Uncle Allen and Great-Auntie Kaman from Hong Kong are in town again, to spend some time with Auntie Naomi, their daughter. Great-Uncle Alan was one of the main paparazzi fellows at my two month birthday celebration.

Me and Auntie Kaman...

The end of this week marked Daddy's first Father's Day!  To celebrate, we went to Auntie Jen and Uncle Greg's house to have brunch and a playdate with Genevieve.  She's 10.5 months old, but I weigh nearly as much as she does.  She's a lot taller than me though.  I wonder if she likes shorter guys?

On a final and very exciting note, I am rolling over much more consistently now!  The first few times I tried, Mommy laughed at me.  She thought I looked like a beached whale as I tried to wiggle and throw my leg over.  But the last few times, I was much more elegant about it.  I roll over my left side from my tummy to my back.  Mommy saw me roll over the right side one time on Thursday, but I haven't done it again since.

Anyways, I hope Daddy had a good relaxing Daddy's day!

Week 20 June 7th-13th

This was Mommy's last week of work before her summer break.  She's been waiting for the end of the school year since she went back to work at the end of March.  Now she gets to spend all her time with me.  Lucky us.  :)

I've been meeting lots of new people.  On Friday, I went to breakfast with Mommy for her last day of work.  Lots of Mommy's coworkers held me, but I didn't get pictures with them as Mommy was busy eating breakfast before she needed to relieve whoever was holding me.  I wanted to give shout-outs to them anyway: Auntie Jackie, Auntie Jan, Auntie Amy, Auntie Cambria.  I hope I didn't forget anyone.  I also met James, Auntie Cambria's baby.  I'm sure I'll have a play date with him this summer.

After the breakfast, we went to one of Mommy's schools (Addison) and Uncle John (the principal) and Auntie Sheila carried me.  Auntie Sheila watched me while Mommy was in a meeting.  She told Mommy that I stayed in my car seat without fussing for a long time, and only in the end did she need to pick me up.  Mommy gave a huge sigh of relief because she was worried that I'd be a handful during that time.  I don't know what she's talking about.  I'm easy-peasy.

A new thing that I'm doing now is playing with my feet.  I've been staring at them for some time and now I've figured out that I could grab them.  I really like doing that.  Mommy says it makes changing diapers a lot easier now, because she doesn't have to worry about kicking feet.

I'll even play with them when I have my onesie on.  I didn't use to do that.  Oh, this picture I'm wearing a hat (even though it's hot).  Mommy wanted to document it, as it's a hat that was knitted by Great-Grandma Cheng.  She passed away a few years ago, so I never met her.  I won't be able to fit it when it's time to wear hats again, so Mommy thought she'd just get a picture with me in it.

I have all these new stuffed animals.  Here I am with a doggy.  He's pinning me down.  But when I get bigger, I'll be wrestling with him and pinning HIM down.  He'd better watch out.  I already have a good hold on his arm.

Auntie Mary bought me this stuffed cow (it's a Mommy cow holding a baby cow).  Her ears are tasty.

I DO love getting changed.

Here's a time when I was fussy (I guess).  I'm tired but I couldn't fall asleep, even after Grandpa was holding me for a while.  I think I'm rather content here.  Why sleep?

Check me out here.  Do you remember this picture of me and the bunny?  I don't, since I was sleeping.  I was two weeks old.  But look at me now!

I like chilling with dad after my morning bottle.

Week 19 May 31st-June 6th

I had my 4 month check up this week and I'm doing well.  Still in the 75th percentile for height and weight, and I think my head has moved up to the 95th percentile.  Nuts!  I was just shy of 16 lbs, but am now 25 3/4" long.  Even though all of that is exciting, what is more exciting is that I started laughing out loud with some giggles!  We were at the doctor's office, waiting for my pediatrician to come in.  Mommy and Grandma was trying to keep me busy so that I wouldn't start fussing (as if I really ever fuss at all.  Puleez).  So long story short, Grandma started blowing kisses into my thighs and Mommy was smiling really wide at me, and I started laughing.  Not just the one or two short laughs from last week, but a few good giggles!  Mommy's smile got even wider!  They were both soo happy.  Now if only I can do it on demand for Daddy.  Daddy didn't think it was fair that I didn't laugh for him.  So later on this week while Mommy was holding me and because Daddy was jumping around like a monkey, I started laughing for him. Really I was laughing at him, but that's a minor wording issue.

Now that I'm bigger, I'm busting out of my swaddle wrap.  I'm also moving around a lot in my crib when I sleep.  Look at me here.  My head use to be facing the other way...I moved 180 degrees the opposite direction.  Mommy and Daddy are going to have to put the crib bumpers on soon.  They don't want me to get my feet or arms caught between the bars.

I finally got a picture with Auntie Naomi.  She's the youngest of Mommy's cousins.  She's going to be staying at Grandma and Grandpa's house for the summer to take an SAT prep course.  Yay!  That means I get to spend some time with her too!

Last weekend I went to Auntie Nathalie's housewarming party.  It was time for me to nap, but I didn't want to go to sleep.  Too many new things.  Here's a picture of Daddy trying to get me to fall asleep.  It didn't work.

Check out my rolls.  Mommy and Daddy really love kissing them.

Great Auntie Leona, Great Uncle Paul, Uncle Brian, and Auntie Mary came into town this weekend.  They were here for business, but I got to spend some time with them too.  Uncle Brian and Auntie Mary didn't get to meet me when I had my 2 month birthday party.  But better late than never.

Uncle Brian was being silly here.

That's more like it.

I was sleepy at the restaurant.  It was way past my bedtime.  When I'm tired, I tend to rub my face into whoever is holding me.  Look at Grandpa's shirt.  That's my drool.  :)

I woke up in time for Auntie Mary to take a picture with me.

Here's a link to a video that Daddy took of me.  Enjoy!
