One Month Birthday! Feb. 22nd- 28th

The weeks continue to fly by and I continue to grow.  Can you believe I'm one month old already?  I turned one month old on Thursday.  So in honor of that, Mommy and Daddy decided to bathe me the night before so I can be nice and clean on my birthday.  I look rather content here...for the most part, I enjoy my baths.  I just don't enjoy it when I get into the water and out of it.

Other than my birthday, it's been a rather uneventful week.  My folks are taking pictures of me as always...it's like the paparazzi.  I am definitely awake more often than before, going for longer stretches of time between my naps.  However, because I'm awake longer, I think I get crankier later at night because I'm more tired.

This is the result of one of those cranky times.  After a feeding, Daddy took me to the living room to calm me down.  We ended up sleeping together on the chair.  Can you see me?  I'm hiding in the crook of Daddy's arm.

Mommy knitted this hat for me when she was pregnant.  But then she forgot where she put it until just a few days ago.  Now that my head is getting bigger, the hat isn't going to fit for too much longer.  Too bad she couldn't find it a few weeks ago.  Must be the "Mommy Brain" syndrome where you begin to forget things.

Here are some random pictures of me.

Uncle Mike and Auntie Jennifer are both back in town.  Between them, Auntie Nathalie and my grandparents, I was passed around at least five times to five different people in a matter of minutes.  I'm not a toy! although I AM very cute, if I do say so myself.  And to top it all off, I didn't make one peep.

I go in for my 4 week check up (a little late) on Tuesday.  I wonder how much I weigh now.  Any guesses?

Week 4 Feb. 15th-21st

Another week has gone by and the sad news is, Daddy had to go back to work.  He was really sad about it on Tuesday morning.  He wanted to stay home and call in sick.  It doesn't help that he was so tired from the middle of the night feeding that he gives me.  So far, every day Daddy has wanted to call in sick.  He really misses me.  Unfortunately, by the time he gets home from work, I've just had my feeding and am asleep, so he doesn't get to play with me when I'm awake.

Apparently, I like being in this position to be burped.  Mommy found that out and it seems to work well.  Of course, I'm not making it easy for them, so I don't always burp when they want me to.  I like to make things difficult for them by spitting up after they've been working a while on me to burp.

The other night, Mommy had a great experience.  Mommy and Daddy were preparing to give me a bath. Daddy had filled the bath with water and had everything ready.  After I was undressed, Daddy was about to put me into the bath when he realized the water was too hot, so Mommy started adjusting the temperature.  In the meantime, I'm in my birthday suit.  You can guess what happened next.  Daddy had a split second thought of, "Why is it warm all of a sudden?" when he realized I was spraying...spraying all over Mommy...a little on her face, on her neck, and a lot of her shirt.  Daddy kept saying, "Sorry sorry!" to her.  Mommy just looked at Daddy with a smirk on her face.  Hey, you can't blame me.  I TOLD them I don't like to be cold and out in the open.  You'd think they learn by now.

I'm also now able to move my head from one side to the other when I'm on my tummy, though I'm not consistently doing so.  Hey, this is a huge accomplishment...didn't I mention I have a huge head?  It takes a lot of effort and skill  for my neck to lift that noggin off the bed.  When I'm upright and in someone's arms, it's easier for me to be looking around.  I think that's helped me strengthen my neck muscles for the head-lifting feat.  Hopefully I'll be able to do it more consistently later.

On Saturday, I met Daddy's uncle Tom (my great-uncle) and my Auntie Tara.  Weird huh, that Uncle Tom is near the same age as Daddy.  I think Uncle Tom's mom and Daddy's grandmother are sisters.  Anyway, Auntie Tara was very nice and she was trying to soothe me when I started crying.  She even chose the biggest lollipop to share with me, and told Mommy to give it to me when I'm bigger.  Thanks Auntie Tara!

Oh, and I finally got to meet Uncle Michael.  He was so nervous holding me.  He didn't want to wake me up and get me mad so that I blame him.  He also said that I have more hair than he does...sorry Uncle Mike.  It was great to finally meet him.  I was awake for a brief period so I got to look at him.  Ooh, and on a even more special note, I'm going to have a cousin to play with in September!  Well, maybe a bit later than that because the baby will be small at that time.  But yay!!!  A cousin!

We went out to dinner with Uncle Mike, Auntie Jennifer, Grandma and Grandpa.  Mommy and Daddy put me in another outfit.  How do you like my overalls?  Hard to see, as the colors seems to blend together, but I think I look cute.  I don't look too happy though in this picture.  I wasn't happy about being changed out of my onesie (too cold!).

Next week I'll have my one month birthday!  How quickly time flies.  Mommy and Daddy can't believe that it's gone by so quickly already.  They have been commenting on how I've already changed so much.

Week 3 February 8th-14th

Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Valentine's Day!  At least, that's what it was yesterday from what people were telling me.  This past week I am definitely more alert than the last couple of weeks.  Guess that's what happens as you grow.

I had my 2 week check-up on Tuesday and I gained 10.5 oz in a week!  They say to expect an ounce a day or so of weight gain and I surpassed that.  I'm still in the 45th percentile though for my weight...just average-ish, and in the 50th percentile for my height.  Did I mention that my head circumference is in the 80th percentile???  No wonder Mommy and Daddy call me a lollipop some times.   I just say that it's because I'm so smart and have a big brain.

Mommy and Daddy decided to give me another bath (I think it's going to be a common occurrence).  I think I take to the water well, though it is kind of cold when I'm wet.  I'm not looking too thrilled here with my eyebrows furrowed, but it's definitely better being in the towel than out in the open.

Since I'm more awake, my parents decided to take more pictures of me.  Here I am on my boppy throne.  It's good to be the king..  Where's my food?!?!

Grandma invited us to go out on Sunday for brunch.  That's special because we've been holed up at home because of the cold weather and so Mommy can recover from surgery.  The weather was nice and Mommy and Daddy decided to try out a new outfit for me.  Most of the time I'm sporting a onesie of some kind, since I don't go anywhere special.  This time I'm wearing a sweatshirt with a hoodie, a striped shirt, and matching sweatpants.  Can you see my kickin shoes?

But before we went out, Mommy needed to feed me.  And here I am again with food coma.  If you look carefully, you can see my milk mustache on the corner of my lips.  What can I say?  I'm a connoisseur of yummy food.

These next pictures were taken after I finished another meal.  Mommy was holding me and trying to get me to make one of my accidental smiles they love so much.  They succeeded here.

Look at my Zoolander pose!  I think I can be a model!

Mommy and Daddy also wanted to take some pictures of me in my birthday suit.  They ended up keeping my diaper on because they didn't want me to redecorate their bed.  They turned up the heat in the room and got this one of me.  Mommy really likes this picture.

On Sunday evening, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house.  It's the first time I've ever been there.  Their carpet is off-white colored!  I wonder if I'll ever have an "accident" on their floor.  That'll be too funny.  I was really well-behaved that night.  I slept while they all ate dinner.  After they were done, I woke up and started being active.  Daddy had to rock me so that I would calm down.

And here I am again staring at Grandpa.  He really enjoyed holding me.  I did start to fuss and Grandpa started rocking and moving me around, pretty much dancing so that I would stay calm.  Muhahaha!  I have them all under my control!

Since I'm more awake lately, I've been making a lot more eye contact with everyone.  I just can't get enough of looking at my Mommy.

Finally, a picture of me peacefully asleep.  I still fit perfectly in Mommy's arms.

On a new experience note (why is it always gross?), I let Daddy experience a blow out diaper.  Mommy was sleeping when that happened (lucky her).  No one can ever understand how poop can get out of a diaper and up one's back. I'm also experiencing baby acne.  Mommy feels bad about that as the doctor says it's common and due to Mommy's hormones running through my system.  Mommy hopes they go away soon.  She doesn't like knowing that she's causing the little bumps and red blotches on my face.  It's ok, Mommy.  Don't worry, I'll be just fine..

Week 2 February 1st-7th

Well, my second week of life was rather uneventful.  I didn't have much on my plate except to eat, sleep, and excrete.  What a life...I really can't complain. I went to my first doctor's visit last Tuesday and I've gained back some of the weight I've lost.  I'm now 7lbs 5.5 oz, so I gained about 4.5 ounces in 4 days!  Not bad.  I didn't like being undressed to my birthday suit though, so it was hard for Dr. Yeh to hear my heartbeat since I was crying my eyes out.  Eventually, she was able to finish my check-up.

I'm getting the hang of feeding now, and Mommy and Daddy are getting the hang of my schedule.  I still wake up a few times in the middle of the night because I get hungry, but I think I'm doing better.  Or at least, Mommy and Daddy are THINKING I'm getting better.  I hear that around this time (week 2) there's supposed to be a growth spurt for me.  Guess my schedule will change once again.  This is what I look like after I get fed.  Grandma and Grandpa laugh and say that I look drunk.  Mommy also calls me a "limp noodle."  What does that mean?  I just say that I'm more than satisfied with my meal.

I am staying more awake lately, though you might not be able to tell from the above picture.  If I'm not drunk after I get fed, I some times look around and check things out.

Here Daddy decides to hold me in a football hold.  I think I like this position.

Mommy decided the other day that I should get a bath.  They decided not to put me in a pool of water, as my belly button still hasn't fully healed yet.  But they did use a washcloth to wipe me down.  I don't think I liked it too much at all!

After the bath, Daddy decided to comb my hair.  Mommy didn't like it  much.  It was a like a comb-over for old men.  But I think I look pretty smashing myself!  So handsome.

We had a few guests over this past weekend.  Uncle Phil and Auntie Patty came by.  They were so nice to bring me a toy and Look!  My first red envelope!  It's good to be Chinese.

Auntie Carole and her kids Ryan and Olivia came over to visit.  The kids really liked playing with my toes.  They even bought me a giant rabbit stuffed animal!  It's a lot bigger than me...I'm not sure I know what to do with it.  Maybe when I get bigger, I'll be able to play with it.

The next day more visitors came....Uncle David and Auntie Eri came by.  This time they were willing to pick me up.  They visited me when I was a few days old in the hospital, but they were too nervous to hold me.  Can you believe it?  I'm the first baby they've ever held!!!  I think they did a fabulous job AND I was awake!

Auntie Kristine came by too.  She's an old pro with babies as she has many nieces and a nephew.  I was super comfy in her arms.

Other than visitors, the only new thing I let Mommy experience was projectile pooping (unfortunately for her, Daddy missed out on this experience).  I don't think she's ever seen anything fly that far come from something so small.  What I REALLY like doing is after I get changed into a new diaper, I poop again so that I have to be changed again.  I need to keep Mommy and Daddy on their toes...otherwise they'll think they know how to take care of me.  I'm sure I'll have more surprises up my sleeves for them.  Stayed tuned.

My First Week Jan. 25th-31st, 2010

Hello to everyone out there!  Welcome to my page, where I will try to update you on my going-ons as I learn to navigate this place.

Today, February 1st, 2010 was the original due date for my delivery.  As many of you know, I wasn't being a good boy to my mom, and was in breech position for the last 7-8 weeks of my stay in hotel Mama.  Because of that, I was scheduled (via C-section) to enter the world on Tuesday, the 26th.  However, again, I decided to do my own thing and came out a day early on Monday, the 25th.  I was 7lbs, 7 oz and 20" long...not bad for someone who was hiding in Mom's tummy.  My Great-Auntie Susanna said that I have a "personality" already, since I decided to do things on my own schedule.

Here's our first family photo.  Mommy said she started crying once the OB doctor said "uterine", which signaled to Daddy that he could stand up and watch them take me out.  And once Mommy heard me cry, she started crying even more.  I don't know what the big deal is...though I guess I understand since it's ME being born after all.  Look at how stylish I am in that striped blanket.

*Yawn*  It's been a long day so far and I'm pretty tired already.

I am too cute sleeping here.

 Enough of my first day.  I've had quite a few visitors during our stay at Hotel Lucile Packard.  My grandparents were thrilled to hold their first grandchild (what can I say?  SPECIAL!)-{photo props go to Auntie Rita};

my Auntie Nathalie wanted to show me off to her coworkers;

even Uncle Willy from Boston came by to say hello.  Auntie Rita and Uncle Jim came by to take some pictures but I don't have any pictures with them (see above).  I think they were camera shy.  I'll have to give them a few pointers.  Auntie Melissa came by too, but she felt out of practice for holding a newborn, so again, no pictures with her.  Her son Zach (my soon to be new playmate) is about 15 months old now...I'll have to prove to him that I'm cool to hang out with, even though I am younger.

Here's a picture of me and Daddy sleeping.  Poor Daddy had to sleep on a cot at Hotel Lucile Packard.  I, on the other hand, had my own "pad", though most nights I was lucky to sleep on my Mommy.  My parents were saying something about me being fussy at night and keeping them awake, so it was easier for them if I was on Mommy.  Something about her smell makes me calm down.  You didn't hear it from me though, I don't think I'm fussy at ALL!

Once we got home, we had a new routine to try, with me running the show, of course.  It's a tough job for me, learning how to feed.  I had some practice at the hotel, but I'm used to getting food pumped into me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  And now you're asking me to learn to feed?  You've got to be kidding me.  I can't help it if I take about an hour to eat, and then get up again in another hour or two because I'm hungry again.  I kind of feel bad for Mommy though...I think it tires her out. And to top that all off, I have to be subjected to the cold air when Daddy changes my diaper and cleans me.  I'm not use to all that cold air..and I've let them know it.  I believe I've sprayed both Mommy and Daddy already.  Serves them right for exposing my private parts.

Auntie Jennifer also came to visit.  Uncle Michael is still deployed.  I can't wait to meet him.  But in the meantime, I got to spend time with Auntie.

Mommy said I look like a froggy in this picture, because of the way my body is curled up.  What's a froggy anyway?

Finally, a picture with Daddy sleeping.  Daddy looks really tired.  I wonder why?  I'm a perfect child.  And why do I keep hearing the word "fussy" anyway?  I sleep perfectly fine during the day.  I think I just might be a night owl.

I'm sure I'll be an even more perfect angel in the weeks to come.  In the meantime, you can look at pictures that my Daddy took on his flickr site.
