My First Week Jan. 25th-31st, 2010

Hello to everyone out there!  Welcome to my page, where I will try to update you on my going-ons as I learn to navigate this place.

Today, February 1st, 2010 was the original due date for my delivery.  As many of you know, I wasn't being a good boy to my mom, and was in breech position for the last 7-8 weeks of my stay in hotel Mama.  Because of that, I was scheduled (via C-section) to enter the world on Tuesday, the 26th.  However, again, I decided to do my own thing and came out a day early on Monday, the 25th.  I was 7lbs, 7 oz and 20" long...not bad for someone who was hiding in Mom's tummy.  My Great-Auntie Susanna said that I have a "personality" already, since I decided to do things on my own schedule.

Here's our first family photo.  Mommy said she started crying once the OB doctor said "uterine", which signaled to Daddy that he could stand up and watch them take me out.  And once Mommy heard me cry, she started crying even more.  I don't know what the big deal is...though I guess I understand since it's ME being born after all.  Look at how stylish I am in that striped blanket.

*Yawn*  It's been a long day so far and I'm pretty tired already.

I am too cute sleeping here.

 Enough of my first day.  I've had quite a few visitors during our stay at Hotel Lucile Packard.  My grandparents were thrilled to hold their first grandchild (what can I say?  SPECIAL!)-{photo props go to Auntie Rita};

my Auntie Nathalie wanted to show me off to her coworkers;

even Uncle Willy from Boston came by to say hello.  Auntie Rita and Uncle Jim came by to take some pictures but I don't have any pictures with them (see above).  I think they were camera shy.  I'll have to give them a few pointers.  Auntie Melissa came by too, but she felt out of practice for holding a newborn, so again, no pictures with her.  Her son Zach (my soon to be new playmate) is about 15 months old now...I'll have to prove to him that I'm cool to hang out with, even though I am younger.

Here's a picture of me and Daddy sleeping.  Poor Daddy had to sleep on a cot at Hotel Lucile Packard.  I, on the other hand, had my own "pad", though most nights I was lucky to sleep on my Mommy.  My parents were saying something about me being fussy at night and keeping them awake, so it was easier for them if I was on Mommy.  Something about her smell makes me calm down.  You didn't hear it from me though, I don't think I'm fussy at ALL!

  Once we got home, we had a new routine to try, with me running the show, of course.  It's a tough job for me, learning how to feed.  I had some practice at the hotel, but I'm used to getting food pumped into me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  And now you're asking me to learn to feed?  You've got to be kidding me.  I can't help it if I take about an hour to eat, and then get up again in another hour or two because I'm hungry again.  I kind of feel bad for Mommy though...I think it tires her out. And to top that all off, I have to be subjected to the cold air when Daddy changes my diaper and cleans me.  I'm not use to all that cold air..and I've let them know it.  I believe I've sprayed both Mommy and Daddy already.  Serves them right for exposing my private parts.

Auntie Jennifer also came to visit.  Uncle Michael is still deployed.  I can't wait to meet him.  But in the meantime, I got to spend time with Auntie.

Mommy said I look like a froggy in this picture, because of the way my body is curled up.  What's a froggy anyway?

Finally, a picture with Daddy sleeping.  Daddy looks really tired.  I wonder why?  I'm a perfect child.  And why do I keep hearing the word "fussy" anyway?  I sleep perfectly fine during the day.  I think I just might be a night owl.

I'm sure I'll be an even more perfect angel in the weeks to come.  In the meantime, you can look at pictures that my Daddy took on his flickr site.

  2. Yaaay! Another baby blog to follow! Looking forward to seeing lots of pics and hearing lots more stories; I love keeping track of the next generation of volleyball players ;)

    Elliot, you are absolutely adorable. Try to be nice to mommy and daddy though, as neither one of them does well with sleep deprivation you know.

  4. "Elliot, you give them hell! You can't relent, the parent-training begins NOW! Trust me, life is grand once you've got them trained to respond to your every whim." That's coming from your buddy Zach. He can't wait to meet you.
